Evening of Light Humour

17.07.2008 Almaty

On 15 July 2008 an "Evening of Light Humour" was held at the exhibition hall of Hesed "Polina". Its author and conductor, Ruvim Glikman, is an interesting and unique man. He hides his real age, writes poetry and humoresques, plays guitar, works as a carpenter and dreams of creating a replica of "Anshlag" in Almaty. On this hot day, Glikman sang with a voice similar to that of Vysotsky, and expressively and enthusiastically read his works.

The author gets his inspiration from the real life events. For example, the author recently wrote "I Don’t Lie":

"There is a dent in the wall in my bedroom. A gnome made the dent. I swear it is
true! He also made another dent. With his leg. The wall was hard, but the gnome had
wooden arms and legs. He was wooden all over. It is not hard to understand - I am
a carpenter. While I was making the gnome, I leaned his arm and leg against the
  wall.
And you thought I was lying. Why would I? He, the gnome, also hit me on the forehead.
During the night I got up to go to the toilet, forgot that the gnome, while waiting until the
next day to be worked on, is on the floor near the door. He ended up unscathed, and I got
a lump on the head. At least I didn’t break a leg while I was half-asleep. The gnome
didn’t even flinch - what does a piece of wood care? It just remained lying down
and didn’t move. And lucky it didn’t, or it would have made more holes in the floor.
He left me with a nice souvenir on my forehead. I left him a souvenir too - now he
stands at a cafe near the Snow White and other gnomes, holding a torch. His mouth
is wide open. I will tell you where the cafe is, but don’t all go at once, or you will
scare the gnomes and the girl..."

Smiling faces of audience are the best award for a comedian. Ruvim Glikman hopes to continue such meetings at the Hesed in the future.
