WELL-DESERVED AWARD

Karaganda 18.03.10

Non-governmental and non-commercial organizations from all regions of Kazakhstan submitted 230 innovation projects to the sixth Exhibition of Social Projects. All projects were professionally presented. The expert commission had a difficult time choosing 29 best projects to be funded by the Fund of the First President of Kazakhstan this year. One of the winners is the project of Karaganda Branch Office of the Republican Jewish Charity Organization Hesed Miriam.

This annual exhibition traditionally held by the Social Fund of the First President of Kazakhstan and the International Institute of Modern Politics is an open platform for discussing social issues and finding ways for their resolution.

Video-conferences, master-classes, networking, and roundtable "Science and Innovations is the Basis of Kazakhstan’s Intellectual Leadership" strengthened cooperation between all participants. Projects authors from all regions of Kazakhstan shared ideas, proposed important initiatives, and described mechanisms of new technologies.

A team of talented creative people from Karaganda Branch of Hesed Miriam participated in the exhibition for the second time. In 2009 we were awarded with a gratitude letter for the project of providing assistance to socially underprivileged people. This year we have submitted five projects.

Projects presented at the contest included technologies developed on the basis of psychological methods of Mariya Montessory that enable children with special needs to resolve many of their problems and sometimes to overcome their disabilities. Using this method in Hesed Miriam, we have made bright colored, naughty dolls for children to unbind, unfasten, and unlace their cloths - by doing this children acquire necessary skills.

Our discussion club is very popular with our teenagers. Under the guidance of an experienced psychologist they discuss the most acute youth issues. The guided discussion lets the guys find the right solution by themselves. It raises their self evaluation and brings satisfaction.

There is also a dancing group for children. They attend it with great pleasure. Here, children learn different ethnic dances. Prior to learning a new dance they learn the history and cultural traditions.

Hesed has many programs for adults. We conduct lectures on making a business profitable to help our members achieve financial stability.

This year, one of our projects, "What a Wonderful World", received funding from the Fund of the First President. Drawing is important for children not only because it gives esthetic pleasure but also because it develops fingers’ motor function and promotes development of brain centers. By drawing children develop their creative potential. Under the guidance of an experienced teacher a harmoniously developed personality is being formed who will be capable of solving different complex issues not only art-related.

The fact that the Fund of the First President of Kazakhstan awarded the project of Hesed Miriam, underlines the importance of the work that all of us do every day.
