A branch of the Hesed "Polina" opened in Semipalatinsk in
2004. Starting with the very first days it was a hospitable home for the Jewish
community of the town. It is always crowded. People come there with their family
members; those who have no relatives find their new family in the Hesed.
The following programs operate in Semipalatinsk Hesed:

FOOD PROGRAM is the oldest Hesed service. It offers the following
services:
- hot meals in the Hesed canteen
- food sets
Food program helps poor elderly and disabled clients lead normal life.

HOMECARE.
Besides
for assistance in home cleaning, cooking, and washing up, homecare staff
provides moral and psychological assistance to the Hesed clients. It helps
them to revive interest for life and desire to be involved in communal life.

MEDICAL PROGRAM
provides medical consultations, purchases medicines, and distributes rehabilitation
equipment

MAZAL TOV is a communal and welfare program. It includes social,
medical, and psychological assistance as well as cultural activities for
Jewish families with small children. |
