Home "Galina" was established on 14 December 1999.
The "mistress of the house" is Galina Auezova. She is
56 years old, very intelligent, broad-minded and just a pretty lady. She is
a candidate of biological science; she traveled a lot and has been to Israel
twice, and yet she loves Jewish national cuisine, studying traditions and tries
teach the clients. She knows needs and problems of elderly and lonely people
and always tries to help them.
The first problem for her to solve was to renovate her one bedroom
apartment to adjust it to Warm Home, to make it comfortable for the clients,
to build a friendly atmosphere in it.
Not all passed smoothly at first. There were only three people
at the first meeting and Galina started looking for the clients. And step-by-step
she built a kind of "family circle". Even those who did not want to
come at first, started to come. For instance, a husband of one of our clients
did not want to accompany his wife. Galina managed to persuade him and now he
is the life and soul of the meetings. Do you know what did Galina ask him to
bring? You will never guess…Good mood and a smile.
There are 12 people in Galina's Warm Home. They meet at lunch twice
a week not only to have lunch but also to socialize, share and help each other.
This home-based social club allows people to celebrate their birthdays and Jewish
holidays, observe traditions and to go to different concerts.
Shabbat lunches are very special for them. The atmosphere is solemn;
they light candles and listen to the prayers.
The clients with limited mobility can get hot meals from Galina
at their homes.
