Hesed-On-Wheels Program is oriented on support of minimum standard
of living, and it is the same for all Jewish people in Kazakhstan.
Not all Jewish people who are hard up in Kazakhstan have a chance
to keep in touch with each other because they live far away from Jewish organizations
like Hesed.
Thus, in Almaty oblast by March 2002 more then 300 Jewish people
were registered, and 150 of them are the clients of Hesed-On-Wheels Program
(the biggest settlements are: Kaskelen, Taldykorgan, Tekeli, Burunday).
Taking into consideration that not every area has a special place
for people to meet, the Program employees play a decisive role in rising and
rallying of Jewish national traditions.
The Program employees deliver Jewish newspapers, magazines, books
to the clients, they help in searching relatives, organize holydays. Also they
deliver hot meals, food packages and medicine.
Warm Houses is a good help for clients. In November 2000 the first
one of them was opened in Kaskelen (now 8 families gathered there). The other
day Warm House was opened in Burunday.
