all Hesed clients can support themselves; pensions are very poor but the cost
of life is very high. The full value food for them is profusion.
That is why in Hesed Shimon more than 50 people have lunch in cafeteria
every day, and 18 more receive hot meals at home.
Food packages became a good help for many of them. Every month
200 people get their food packages, which include foodstuff necessary to cook
at home. They include: cereals, sugar, canned fish and canned milk, vegetable
oil, confectionery, macaroni and tea.
 Warm
Homes are established for those who live far away from the center. One of them
is in Lenger City. Very soon Warm Homes will be established in Kentau City,
Arys, Sary-Agach City and in other cities. The clients meet despite of weather
to spend time together, to talk about Jewish holidays or just to feel they like
a big family. Of course, none of Shabbat can pass without holiday lunch but
people unite not only for a bowl of soup. There are not many Jews left in the
oblast. And every of them values friends.
