Significant event in the life of Republic Kazakhstan Jewish community has taken place. This day the name of known Kazakhstan Jewish writer Moris Davidovich Simashko was officially appropriated to Republican communal Jewish library of Republic Kazakhstan.
The national writer of Kazakhstan, the winner of the Kazakhstan Presidential Peace and Spiritual consent award, the winner of a literary award of a name of Abay of 1986 for translation into Russian I.Esenberlin’s trilogy "Nomads" Moris Simashko was born on March, 18th, 1924. He is known as the author of numerous books on topics of the Central Asian and Russian history; his books are translated into more than forty languages.
The action was organized by the head of library Natalya Kovalenko and gathered known cultural and public persons of Republic Kazakhstan, such as manager of the Institute of World literature, international contacts and art named after M.Auezov, Svetlana Ananeva, director Alexander Golovinsky, whose documentary film with participation of Moris Simashko has been shown to the visitors at the beginning, the deputy director of the Central state archive of Republic Kazakhstan Nikolay Kropivnitsky, the director of the Central state archive of Republic Kazakhstan Lyazzat Aktaeva, the writer, the journalist and poet Adolf Artsishevsky, and persons who personally knew the writer.
Close friend of Moris Simashko Leonid Girsh who shared his memoirs on the writer was one of the first taken the word. Svetlana Ananeva has underlined importance of Simashko’s heritage both for Kazakhstan, and for the whole world. It was repeatedly marked that assignment the name of Moris Simashko to the library is very significant for Kazakhstan as a whole. It was also mentioned as that one of Almaty streets will receive the name in honor of the writer. "Joint’s" representative Ilana Levi summarized the event and congratulated the library with its new status.
Moris Simashko considered himself as citizen of the world , it’s very symbolically that Jewish library located in Kazakhstan’s territory was named after him. This event is important both for the Jewish community, and for cultural life of the city and the country.
