There were 88 people in the Day Center in June. Just recently we
have received one more room for the activity.
Every group has its own plan of the classes. The day starts when
clients come to Hesed; they have enough time to communicate, to share their
thoughts and feelings.
The lecture on the history and tradition of Jewish people starts
after that. Than they have lunch in the cafeteria of Hesed Polina and go back
to the Center to start their needlework classes.
The
Day Center has series of lectures and discussions on health where the problems
of memory, vision, diabetes, physical activity of elderly people, preventive
measures against domestic traumatism, etc. are usually discussed. The clients
saw video films dedicated to those problems.
Needlework classes include: knitting, an applique' work, drawing,
making different articles. The most popular type of an applique' work is applique
on a foam plastic using crimped paper or pieces of cloth. In the picture you
can see the applique' work "Seven fruit which Israel is famous for"
- classic menorah as it was described in Torah. This technique is very simple
and showy. The pictures are always bright and three-dimensional.
In the needlework study group client sew kipas and knit summer
bags for themselves.
Liya Frishman told about life of the great ballet dancer Maya Plisetskaya.
All the clients sang old song on literary soiree. There was an "alive"
music and our clients even danced a little.
