In April 2001 a representative Commission consisting of respectable 
  members of the Jewish Community began searching for the future Hesed staff. 
  In March 2002 the Hesed moved to its new office in the center of the city. The 
  office is very convenient for clients and Hesed programs.
  
    Welfare and other programs operate in the Hesed:

	FOOD PROGRAMS - Hesed 
	  clients receive high-quality food packages not only in Taraz, but also in 
	  small towns Merke and Shu. Hot meals are prepared close to the rules of 
	  Kashruth. Needy immobile clients receive them at home.ages. |

	HOME CARE SERVICE - 
	  The head is Ludmila Futoryanskaya. About twenty lone elderly people receive 
	  necessary assistance. The staff is constantly raising its professional skills. 
	  Serious consideration is given to the clients' rehabilitation, and raising 
	  their activity. In cooperation with the JCC the clients are involved in 
	  the communal activities. |

	REHABILITATION EQUIPMENT SEVICE - 
	  Hesed clients and especially ill, old, or disabled people can quickly receive 
	  rehabilitation equipment that helps them to feel comfortable: hand-rail, 
	  walking sticks, go-carts, wheelchairs etc. As for the hand-rail, they are 
	  installed in apartments of all Homecare clients. |

	MEDICAL CONSULTATIONS AND MEDICINE - 
	  The head is Hayunya Greenberg. Thanks 
	  to her the program clients receive medicines according to doctors' prescriptions 
	  in one of the best city drug-stores. Chronic patients are under supervision 
	  twenty four hours a day. Medical consultations are presented by physicians 
	  if necessary. |

	VOLUNTEERS - provide 
	  disinterested assistance in all the Hesed programs - medical consultations, 
	  greetings on birthdays, assistance in cooking meals and preparation of various 
	  Hesed events etc.  |

	MAZAL TOV - is a new program 
	  started in 2003 for young families with children under 8 years old. Besides 
	  for food packages, children and their parents are acquainted with the Jewish 
	  tradition, customs, and culture. The children are engaged in light math, 
	  puppet show, and paint shop.

	RELIGIOUS PROGRAM - The 
	  coordinator is Mikhail Bunin. The program serves to revive and strengthen 
	  the bases of the Jewish life in the community. Kabbalat Shabbat and a weekly 
	  Torah chapter are presented every week. Lessons on the Jewish education 
	  and the bases of Judaism are held for the Hesed staff and clients in the 
	  framework of the program.  |
