There was a very interesting meeting with the famous
writer David Markish in Republican Jewish Library. The main aim of this meeting
was a presentation of his book issued by "The library of Russian Foreign
Literature". This book includes 3 historical novels: "The clowns",
"The field" and "To become Lyutov". These novels tell us
about events of the life of Peter the First, Nestor Makhno and the writer Isaac
Babel.
The library employees organized the exhibition
of Markish's books: "At the blue sea", "To be like all the others",
"In the shadow of the Big Stone", shortened version of the novel "To
become Lyutov", separate publications in "Lekhaim" magazine and
literary miscellany "The new Jewish School".
David Markish was talking not only about his own
books but also about the sources of Jewish literature in Russia and about books
of modern Israeli writers.
For all bibliophiles this meeting was useful and
interesting. David Markish answered for all the questions and presented his
new book to the library.
