This service organizes hot meal and food packages for the elderly and disabled clients. Those who unable to come and pick up their own package get them at home through volunteers and homecare service.

  Heseds distribute food packages monthly to elderly people to provide food minimum. Hot Lunches Service provides more complete and various food to needy Jews. Moreover, another important program Warm Homes - mini canteens work for 20-25 people, living in the same district. For those people Warm Homes are not just the place where they can get some food but social clubs. In canteens and Warm Homes Heseds' volunteers read lectures about Jewish Tradition and History; the libraries present new books from their stocks.

  Every Friday the clients of Heseds' canteens and warm Homes celebrate Shabbat, light candles and say prayers.

The development of the Food Programs in Kazakhstan in 2001

  In 2001 4 new Heseds were established in Kazakhstan (in Uralsk, Taraz, Kokshetau and Kostanay cities). Food Program is one of the main welfare programs; and new Heseds start their work particularly from it. The number of the clients of Hot Meals Program has doubled - from 450 in January to 850 in December, the number of the clients, who receive Food Packages has increased more than 1.5 times - from 1,700 to 3,000.
