In the evening of 7 May there was an opening of one of the
biggest seminars for the last 5 years. The opening was in "Karagalinskiy"
resort. Actually there were three seminars at the same time, about 40
participants from different regions of FSU gathered to study. There were
representatives of Jewish Organizations from Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan,
Uzbekistan, Azerbaidzhan and Georgia.
The first seminar from the series of the seminars for the "Joint"
representatives for our region started working. Together with it the group
of librarians began its work. The "Idishkait" group continued
its study.
Representatives of "Joint" from Israel visited
the seminar: rabbi Meier Schlezinger, Asya Gluzman the coordinator of
library programs, Max Wiesel the regional representative in Kazakhstan,
Middle Asia and Transcaucasia, Natan Gelman program coordinator. All of
them and Natalya Rynkovskaya teacher of Jewish history and tradition read
lectures on their programs.
Evening meal was good in double meaning: first, all participants
could try food, cooked in the only kosher restaurant in Kazakhstan, second,
because the honorable guests visited this opening: Yeshaya Cohen the Chief
Rabbi of Kazakhstan, Alexander Baron the President of "Mitsva"
Association, Alexander Mashkevich the President of Jewish Congress of
Kazakhstan.
