A
round table meeting dedicated to seventieth anniversary of the famous
Israeli writer Felix Kandel was held on December 26 in Hesed Polina.
During his "Moscow period" he wrote humorous stories under a
pen-name Kamov. His works were published in the most popular USSR magazines
"Ogonuok" and "Crocodile". Some of his stories were
written in co-authorship with Lion Izmailov, Alexander Kurlyandsky, and
Arkady Hait. His novel "Corridor" finished in 60s was published
for the first time in 1981 in Israel.
When living in Israel he wrote books about the history of Erets Yisrael
settlement ("Ground Under Feet") and Jews of Russia ("Sketches
of Times and Events", part 1 and 2). Lubov Koretskaya, Svetlana Nezhinskaya,
and Lilya Zenkevich told the guests about these books.
The Republican Jewish Library is now looking forward to receiving new
books of Felix Kandel. Maybe, they will inspire us to organize a new round
table meeting.
