IT WAS RECENTLY, IT WAS LONG AGO…

It was a real holiday that Hesed Polina made for us, Day Center. On December 18 we visited the first night of Grigory Gorin's "Royal Games" play in Lermontov Theatre.

The weather did not dispose to go anywhere - it was a real winter day with a snowstorm, but no clients of the Day Center thought about staying at home and not going to the theatre. It was so long ago that we could miss the classes to go to the cinema or an exhibition of our favorite painter.

And now we are slowly coming up to the familiar building. We are entering the hall… How did the theatre changed! Plenty of people, noise, modern design with old pictures, and permanent smell of the wings. It is nice that the new generation also likes this place. Most of Almaty Jews gathered there. We met our old friends and made new ones.

The play began. Our favorite pages revived on the stage. I could not take my eyes away form queen Anna played by Anastasia Tyomkina. Suitable decor and talented direction represented the atmosphere of the English court in detail. I thank G-d for giving me a chance to live till the day that thousands people see plays of Jewish playwrights on the stage.

We thank Hesed Polina, the head of Day Center program Tatyana Risman, driver Sergey, and of course our dear Lermontov theatre. Hopefully, such holidays will not be rear in the Day Center.

Raisa Fastovskaya (client of the Day Center program)
