In
the course of preparation to OFEK 2003 Aktobe branch of the republican
Jewish Library held specific activities in the city colleges, women's
club meetings, roundtables, library literature clubs, youth and historical
clubs, and book exhibitions.
The main event of OFEK 2003 was a meeting on August 24. Theatre
hall was decorated with photos, books, periodicals, and posters. Jewish
music was playing and volunteers were welcoming each guest. The atmosphere
was very warm and pleasant.
First the chairman of the Aktobe Jewish community Mark Ioffe
told the guests about Jewish organizations in the FSU and the development
perspectives of the city community.
Then
Pavlodar JCC director Natalya Iglevskaya reviewed JCC activities and shared
the plans for future. The librarian presented new books.
Then it was the time for the concert. The audience cheered
Jewish songs performed by "Hatikva" ensemble and "Esther"
choir, as well as passionate dances.
The second part of the festival was given to "Mishak"
theatre. It presented a humorous play, which captivated the audience.
But the festival could not last forever. OFEK 2003 is over. Now we are
beginning to prepare to the next Festival of the Book.
