The Jewish Community Center of Astana has gathered the young
participants of the Children's club to celebrate Sukkot. The children
listened to the story about the forty year wandering in the desert, and
after that it was easy for them to answer the question "what is Sukkot?"
The main event of the holiday was a gift from "Mitsva"
Association - etrog and lulav brought by the coordinator of JDC welfare
and community programs Svetlana Halturina. Many children saw them for
the first time. They placed the fruits on a big table in the JCC hall.
The JCC walls were decorated with children's drawings on the
subject of Sukkot history. The Hesed and library shelves became a place
for small huts made by children of the natural staff. A festive table
was laid for the children in a makeshift Sukka.
After that the children went to synagogue, where a rabbi met
them in a real Sukka. The children's club will remember this holiday for
a long time.
