The
Republican Jewish Library of Almaty is the main storage of the Jewish
books in Kazakhstan. 12 branches of the library are located in the republican
regional centers. The replenishment of the library stock is centralized.
New books appear in the libraries every month. It is partly done by means
of JDC; some books are shipped directly from Israel.
The
most significant event of this month is a new book - series of Russian-Jewish
publicism and historiography "A Book about the Russian Jewry: from
1860 to the Revolution".
The book is devoted to the Jewish life in Russia before the Revolution.
It covers the main development stages and achievements of the Jews in
different spheres from the Alexander II's reforms and till the February
Revolution of 1917.
The new book has already become one of the most popular books of the month
in the Republican Jewish Library of Almaty.
