A
memorial evening dedicated to a composer and musicologist Boris Erzakovitch
was conducted in the framework of the Community Festival of the Jewish
book. Its visitors were glad to know that Kazakhstani people remember
one of the prominent Jewish figures.
Boris
Erzakovitch was an honored worker of arts, a talented scientist and author
of several books that preserved Kazakh musical legacy. He gathered Kazakh
folklore, and now Pavlodar Museum of Arts has many rare materials preserved
with his help. First of all it is a unique musical notation of Estai's
23 songs (Kazakh folklore classics).
The museum research assistant Aitzhan Badelhanov shared his
memories about Boris and presented their correspondence. Then we listened
to several songs found and recorded by Boris. Everybody was pleased and
proud for the outstanding son of the Jewish people.
