One
of the 613 commandments directs parents to teach their children Jewish customs,
language, and Tradition. For three years "Mazal Tov" welfare program
has been caring for children under the age of 7. It is there that the children
receive initial knowledge about their nation.
This year for the first time since program beginning the community
decided to prepare an unusual holiday for little graduates of the "Mazal
Tov". On August 10 seventeen children will celebrate the First-Former's
Day. On the holiday the children will be transferred from "Mazal Tov"
to the club for elder children - "Osher".
"Rimon" JCC and Hesed "Polina" are getting prepared
to the celebration. Adults are making the program, rehearsing with the children
and designing the Diplomas. Children from the "Osher" creative center
are learning poems, songs, and dances that will be a present for their new friends.
Hesed ensemble "Nehama" is also preparing a musical greeting. And
JCC computer class has made a presentation for this occasion. The festive concert
will start with it. The presentation will tell
about the life of "Mazal Tov" children, their lessons and games, and
will help the community to remember its growing up members.
"On the threshold of the holiday I would like to wish the children
to stick to their background, and not to forget everything they have learnt
here", said Anna Galaktionova, the head of "Mazal Tov" program.
