The
program for the youngest community members and their parents "Mazal Tov"
has been working in the Hesed "Polina" for three years already. And
now 17 seven-year-old children are leaving the program. On August
10 a big holiday - First-Former's Day was presented for
them.
When
leaving "Mazal Tov" the first-formers do not go away forever. They
become members of "Osher" children's creative center. It will help
them to find new friends and acquire necessary knowledge - from computer
skills to interpreting the Torah texts.
"Mazal
Tov" is a cradle of the future. It is there that our children have been
growing, making their first steps, learning the world and themselves. Now it
is time to go further. These words marked the beginning of a computer presentation
that opened the festival. It was completely created by a thirteen-year-old girl
from the computer class.
When the light was turned on again, excited and well-dressed
children appeared on the stage. They told the guests about their passions and
dreams. Some of them liked to read, others - to draw, still others - to
"deal" with a computer.
The
community prepared many presents for the new schoolchildren. "Osher"
choir sang songs in three languages - Yiddish, Hebrew, and Russian.
Dancing group presented "Simha" dance. The most exciting for the children
were first-former's Diplomas and their first school bags presented
to them by Alexandr Baron.
"When
I go back to the motherland, I'll put a note into the Western Wall, to make
your life happier and luckier. Study by laughing and playing. May you be surrounded
by friends and wise teaches at school," wished the JDC representative
Max Wiesel.
