With
the support of Moked La-Kashish program Geologist's Day has been celebrated
in Hesed Polina for three years. Those who gave most of their life to expeditions
throughout Kazakhstan gather here to share the knowledge of underground wealth
of our country.
"In previous years mass activities were organized on Geologist
Day", says Inna Enina, the head of Moked La-Kashish program.
"Nowadays this professional holiday is celebrated only in narrow circle
of geological organizations".
Though there are no many Jews among geologists, we decided to give
them an opportunity to celebrate THEIR DAY well. And for several years on April
8 geologists come here to recollect about their youth that was a golden page
of the history of geology in Kazakhstan.
Singing to the accompaniment of guitar, warm congratulations from
the director of Hesed Polina Natalya Dorman and the staff, strong tea usual
for geologists, endless talks and professional arguments made the guests' eyes
shine. Children of Mazal Tov program running by looked into the room with curiosity.
"Hey,
look at it! Have you seen that old man dance with my grandma?"
"He's not an old man, he's my grandpa! He's got a lot of pretty
stones at home, he promised to give them to me when I am grown-up".
Today the infants do not realize that their grandparents opened
new oil- and coal-fields, deposits of base metals and phosphor
that made Kazakhstan famous all over the world. But in several years they will
find out that the names of Caesar Fishman, Fadey Livshitz, Konstantin Azbel,
Mark Dora, Igor Paretsky and many others remain in the history of Kazakhstan
forever.
