My name is Igor, I live in Pavlodar. I would like you to know more about our caring,
merry, restless family called COMMUNITY. That is why I decided to tell you about
the work of Hesed "Rachel".
I was in the Hesed
since its foundation in 2000. The director of Hesed "Rachel" Tatyana
Slivinskaya helped me to understand the main thing - "all Jews are responsible
for each other!". And now I am a part of Hesed, and I want to acquaint you
with its programs:
Food program is indispensable for
many of our clients. I can not imagine how those pensioners and invalids in distress
could live without Hesed soup kitchen, food packages, and hot meals delivered
home! That's the way it is - a cook Lena Sidorovskaya cooks great dishes
and a carrier Kolya Sulygin delivers them to clients.
 SOS
program helps in case of emergency. The clients can receive hearing aid, glasses,
and have their medical service paid.
If our clients have small
pension and problems in the cold season, Winter Relief helps them to pay
for coal or heating, and distributes necessary clothes.
Besides,
there is Homecare service. It takes care not only about client's body,
but also about his or her home. Homecare employees bring to clients relief and
hope.
When my grandmother fell ill, the head of Medical
program Irina Klimenko and her team helped her as well as they help all the
needy. Besides, thanks to Rehabilitation Equipment the clients can go out
and visit Hesed activities.
 It
is very important for community members to know that they are not alone in their
grief!
One can find out so much new when coming to Hesed
library. Restless Lena Perova constantly organizes exhibitions, literary soirees,
OFEK, writes articles for www.mitsva.kz and "Davar" newspaper.
Oleg Bykovsky's religious program teaches us the history and traditions
of the Jewish people. My friend's grandfather likes to visit Kabbalat Shabbat
regularly organized in Hesed. He says he finally feels himself a Jew.
And if you haven't yet understood that our community is the most united -
