About
hundred and fifty members of the Jewish community gathered on the first
day of Hanukah to rejoice at the festival of lights.
The
Hesed director Peter Rubinstein congratulated the guests and told them
about the Hanukah miracle.
Since much attention on Hanukah is given to children and teenagers,
the JCC members were offered to prepare the festive concert themselves.
It exceeded all expectations. They recited poems in Hebrew, sang Hanukah
songs, and performed passionate dances. The audience responded with loud
cheers.
It
has become customary to give children Hanukah Gelt in order to teach them
give Tzedakah. That day all children received coins from the Hesed.
A quiz for Hanukah history and customs was very interesting.
And of course everybody was delighted with doughnuts and latkes prepared
by the family and women's clubs.
Hag Sameach!
