| Meeting of the
historical club was held in "Rimon" JCC on May 29. The participants
discussed their working plans for summer 2003. The chairman Isaac Greenberg reported
about the presentation of the third book of the series "From the History
of Jews in Kazakhstan" scheduled for July 9.
It is consisted
of the reports presented at the First International Conference "Jews in Kazakhstan:
History, Religion, Culture". Not only the works of local researchers were
included into the book, but also information gathered by scientists from Russia,
Uzbekistan, and Kirgizia.
The collection is already in a
printed house. Its final title was approved at the meeting as follows:

Isaac Greenberg also told the historical
club members about his new work - "Jews in Almaty". The idea caused
real interest. Such work will help future generations to objectively estimate
the Jews' contribution to science, culture, and industry of Kazakhstan.
The
President of "Mitsva" Association Alexander Baron and the director of
the Republican Jewish Library Eugenie Karyakina also took part in the meeting.
It is obvious that friendship between different bodies within "Mitsva"
Association gives deliberate and necessary fruits. We believe, that the third
book of the series "From the History of Jews in Kazakhstan" will find
its readers.
