| Every people has its national
holidays celebrated since time immemorial. For Jews such holiday is Pesach -
the festival of liberation from slavery in Egypt. It is celebrated in the month
of Nisan. During the festive days Pesach Hagada is read - an ancient history
of exodus of the Jewish people to freedom. Everybody can find in it something
topical for himself, because it is the story not only about our forefathers, but
also about us.
This
year Astana celebrated the holiday in a big family of more than 140 members. The
community was told about Seder rules, all Pesach customs were observed.
The honoured worker of science, one of the oldest Kazakhstani scientists
M.A. Gendelman congratulated the guests on the holiday and wished everybody health,
family happiness, and good fortune. Being 90 years old, Moses Gendelman is still
an active and sane man rooting for his community. He remembers about the way Pesach
was celebrated when he was young and often tells about it to us, the XXI century
generation.
It
was great to feel ourselves members of the united family. We ate traditional food
together, listened to Pesach stories, and drank 4 prescribed glasses of wine to
Jewish melodies. Everybody was glad at children singing "Miracle' song about
escape from Egypt. The youngest and most mischievous dancers won a storm of applause.
Festive mood and spirit of the holiday will remain in the
Jewish community of Astana for long.
