YIDDISH IS MY MOTHER'S LANGUAGE AND MY MEMORY

Jewish orchestra was playing in IL-22 cinema, and one could not help admiring the music. Though everybody was wonderfully talented, Hebrew and Yiddish song sang by Andrey Spiridonov's band stood out.

"Strange it may seem, but Andrey likes music of different peoples" - the band manager Alexander Korotkov says. "He knows Polish, Ukrainian, Kazakh, Spanish, Italian, German, and French songs. Maybe it is because of his passion for languages - he perfectly knows English and German, as well as Russian folklore. He has absolute pitch and strong voice, he sings with utmost sincerity. Andrey Spiridonov is considered to be the best Shymkent philharmonic soloist."

He began singing Jewish song in Yiddish, and now he also sings in Hebrew. His repertoire includes "Erev Shah", "Mazal Tov", "El Hadereh" and many other songs.

"I am very glad with his creative approach to selecting and singing songs" - Alexander Korotkov adds. "He is also a mature composer - the songs he composed of local poets' verses are very popular in Shymkent."

Recently he has been singing mostly in Yiddish. Yiddish is his mother's language. In memory of her there are such words in the song:

"May this terrible disaster, about which our parents remembered till their last breath and still remember - World war - never happen again!"
