WULF BREIDO

Wulf Abramovitch Breido has passed away. It was absolutely unexpected: his heart suddenly began to ache, and in fifteen minutes he departed. Several days ago he took part in the celebration of the centenary since P.M. Pospelov's birth. P.M. Pospelov is the founder of the Karaganda medical institute - the alma mater of many doctors who live all over the world. For the last two months Wulf Abramovitch had lived with that only event - he published two articles in an anniversary magazine and was very excited. He made a speech on the celebration and suggested that the institute should be called after Pospelov. Somebody from the audience replied that in this case the institute's museum should be called after its founder and curator - Wulf Breido. I believe that one day it will be so.

A doctor, resigned medical colonel, candidate of medical science and assistant professor Wulf Breido was a researcher, scientist, and publicist all his life. The first articles of the International Historical Conference "Jews in Kazakhstan" contained his work on the Jewish doctors' participation in the foundation of the medical institute in Karaganda. When giving him the book I felt sincere interest towards his topic. He was a real scientist. He wanted to participate in the following conferences. Now it is impossible.

Alexander Abramovitch
