 Rosh-ha-Shannah
celebration in Karaganda was held in the Music Comedy Theatre. The festival
was opened by the JCC club programs coordinator Irina Revenko. The religious
program coordinator Alexander Abramovitch helped the community to perform
the main precept of the holiday - listening to shofar. Then congratulations
from various organizations and friends of Karaganda Hesed and JCC were
read: Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, The Embassy of Israel, "Mitsva"
Association and others.
  Young
participants of "Shatil" youth club performed a traditional
New Year sketch "Akedat Yitzhak". The actors touched the audience.
Children from "Perurim" center prepared a musical program consisting
of Jewish songs and poems. They did their best and deserved loud applause.
We also were glad to listen to Jewish songs sang by the philharmonic
soloist Amiliya Kichikyan. But the real furor was created by "Ot
Azoy" group - they presented an hour program "Lanes" -
familiar and warm songs in Yiddish. There were also Jewish melodies and
well-known dances.
At the end of the holiday everybody received sweet gifts.
