It is not the first time that Karaganda Jewish community presents
a field OFEK. This year it was held in Temirtau. The guests paid much
attention to the book exhibition "About the Past for the Future".
It contained popular scientific literature, biographical works and fiction.
After that the "Shemesh" JCC library acquired many new clients
and friends.
 It
was the first time that OFEK visited Dzheskazgan. Special book selection
was presented to the local community and citizens. It included books on
the Jewish history and Tradition, and some works of Jewish writers. It
was obvious that OFEK in Dzheskazgan contributed to establishment of a
new branch of the Republican Jewish Library, because people's interest
in the Jewish literature was absolutely sincere and serious.
All visitors of OFEK 2003 received presents from "Mitsva"
Association - "Davar" newspaper and a brochure made by
the Festival organizers. Such brochures have been published for two years
and contain a brief announcement of all OFEK activities.
Community Festival of the Jewish Book is not just a set of
library activities, but also a big holiday for the Jewish people, a contribution
to enrichment of the historical memory of the world Jewry.
