 The
last meeting of the JCC women's club was dedicated to the traditional
Jewish wedding ceremony. The head of the club Lidiya Kazakevitch explained
that hupah is not just a canopy under which a bride and a groom stand,
but also the Judaic ceremony itself.
After Lidiya's story the club members tried to describe the
Jewish weddings in the FSU. It proved that some of them visited orthodox
weddings in Israel. The women decided to continue their conversation and
discuss the revival of the under hupah wedding together with the youth
club.
