DOCTOR'S DAY

Doctor is not a profession - it is a vocation. Being a doctor is an exhausting work. They help people not for gratitude, but for the sake of patients' lives.

On July 17 Hesed "Polina" celebrated the Doctors' Day. It was dedicated to the community members who gave most of their life to the most humane and necessary profession. They are surgeons, threapeutists, oculists, dermatologists, dentists etc.

The celebration was opened by the President of "Mitsva" Association Alexander Baron. He congratulated everybody on their professional holiday and wished them to remain responsive and considerate to others, but at the same time not to forget of their own health. By the way, Alexander Baron knows himself very well what it is "to be a doctor". He has a great experience of working in Almaty railway hospital.

Then the director of Hesed "Polina" Natalya Doman congratulated the guests. She said she had always respected doctors' professionalism, and after seeing what they did for Hesed clients, she began to really admire them.

When preparing to the celebration we could not suppose that there was so little written about doctors. That is why the head of Volunteers program Inna Enina and her assistants had to make up verses and congratulations themselves. But the guests decided to return the favour and also recited poems. Then "Nehama" vocal band began singing and everybody joined them.

That evening both doctors and their patients had fun and wished each other sound health. And when everybody left, some of the Hesed employees asked:

"Haven't you ever thought that our doctors are able to cure only with their smiles? Look how much vital activity and energy they have!"
