April
9 is a mournful day for the world Jewry. We remember this date! It will remind
us and those after us that Holocaust must not repeat.
Former prisoners of Ghetto and concentration camps - they are
16 among Hesed clients - were invited to the Remembrance Day. Unfortunately,
only seven of them could come. The age makes itself felt.
The guests were welcomed by the President of "Mitsva"
Association Alexander Baron, the director of Hesed "Polina" Natalya
Dorman, coordinator of library programs Galina Korobkina, and library volunteer
Lubov Koretskaya. They told how important it was for the community that Holocaust
victims attended the meeting. They, who saw the Disaster themselves, understand
better than others that one of the most important missions of the humanity is
to avert barbarian groundless annihilation of people. They understand it and
help us to see the importance of friendly relations between different nations
and religions.
Parents,
children, and grandparents - all together lit up memorial candles. Their
light reminded about the terrible past of the Jewish people and at the same
time made the young generation aware of the responsibility resting on them.
"We wish sound health to those who survived in Ghetto and
camps", said Michael Umanov, a representative of the youth club.
"And we will make sure that your grandchildren and great-grandchildren
don't go through Holocaust!"
Refreshments, small gifts, and warm words continued the meeting.
And to those who were unable to come the youth club brought Remembrance Day
home. A letter from the community warmed people's hearts on the bitter date.
That was all we could give to those who survived in Holocaust.
