The first month of the Jewish calendar, which marked the creation
of the world is Tishrey. On Tishrey 2 the world Jewry celebrates the New
Year - Rosh-ha-Shannah. In the course of preparation to Rosh-ha-Shannah
the Day Center members read the weekly chapter of the Torah and listened
to Liya Frishman's story "The Background of the Jewish People".
During the conversation the Day Center clients thought about the differences
between Rosh-ha-Shannah and the New Year according to the Gregorian calendar.
On
the threshold of the holiday the Day Center as usual began preparing a
present for Hesed "Polina". This time it was a wall picture
made of pressed flowers. The article made by our elderly clients has been
demonstrated in the Hesed for the whole week.
And finally the day came. Shofar sounded, fish's head, honey
and apples appeared on the tables. The Day Center gathered its members
to celebrate the 5764 together. There was music, singing, and an interesting
quiz.
A
competition for The Best New Year Dish was timed to Rosh-ha-Shannah celebration.
Of course, the first place was given to the fish's head prepared by Rebekka
Fastovskaya.
Day Center clients wish everybody a SWEET NEW YEAR!
