This time the meeting in the Library Literature club of the
Hesed "Rachel" was unusual. Last month a literature competition
"Test of the Pen" was held in Pavlodar. Its participants had
a chance to test themselves as writers. The main condition was Jewish
subject of their writing. On the final OFEK concert the participants were
awarded with small prizes. And now, they have presented their works in
the Library Literature Club.
It
is significant that participants of the competition were people of different
ages and professions. There were pensioners and schoolchildren, literary
men and people with no special education. Nevertheless, each work deserved
consideration of the community, because the authors put their whole soul
in the writing. So, what did we hear?
Those
who survived through the war and repressions will never forget that time.
That is why many memoirs were full of pain and bitterness, and the listeners
could not hold their tears. There were also Andrey Andreev's aphorisms,
Renata Zherebetskaya's fairy play "Five Fingers" and "Fall
of the Leaves" story by the youngest laureate 14-year-old Irina.
Such competitions are not new, but still popular. Community
members received a stimulus to set out their memories in writing. The
competition and the recitation convinced the authors that their works
would help their children to understand this complicated world. And it
means that the "Test of the Pen" was only the first step!
