As
said in the Talmud, the two days of Rosh-ha-Shannah celebration are a
one long day. Rosh-ha-Shannah is the time to blow the shofar. These days
we wish each other to be written for the good year. The festive meal includes
honey, apples, challah, pomegranate, and carrot.
"Happy
and Sweet New Year!" was written on the hand-made greeting
cards presented by Pavlodar JCC to the guests. Rav Shmuel Karnauch told
about Rosh-ha-Shannah practices, and then the moment came for shofar to
sound.
The sounds of shofar prompt people to repentance, tshuva.
Shofar joins us and helps us to stand the Judgment. After the blaring
sounds, which reminded us about the contribution of our forefathers -
Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the festive meal began.
The Jewish community of Pavlodar wishes everybody Happy New
Year! Shana Tova!
