 Petropavlovsk
community held OFEK 2003 activities in the local library. The festival
was opened by the head of JCC Svetlana Makarovskaya. Then children's music
studio "Hatihot" presented its greeting. The children charmed
the audience with their ingenuousness. The children wore national clothes
sewed for OFEK.
 During
the break the guests got acquainted with a book exhibition from the library
stock of Petropavlovsk branch of the Republican Jewish Library.
 Besides
for the food for thought, the guests were offered classical Jewish dishes:
stuffed fish, forshmak, pate, apple pie etc. Those interested could receive
any recipe right there.
Yemenite Jews' dancing disposed the audience to a lyrical
mood. So did Prof. Valeriy Lubushin's lecture "Solomon's "Song
of the Songs" - a Great Precept of the Humankind".
The first day of OFEK was concluded with a performance of
a violin ensemble. After they finished playing the audience was applauding
for several minutes. The festival goes on!
