| During
the seminar for library employees held in February in Almaty the President of
"Mitsva" Association Alexander Baron offered to announce a competition
for the best project in the framework of library program. Everybody liked the
ideas and in a fortnight Eugenie Karyakina, the director of the Republican Jewish
Library received the first letter.
"We always knew
that we worked with talented people! The growing list of project participants
evidences willingness of Kazakhstani Jews to live the community life,"
said coordinator of library programs Galina Korobkina.
"Is
it the first time that such competition is organized?"
"Alexander
Baron's idea was the very "fresh spirit", although library employees
always try to discover something new and to make their work as much interesting
for the community as possible."
"How many letters
have you received already?"
"Four. And it's not
the end, I'm sure, because we receive questions about the competition everyday.
We expect a letter from Northern Kazakhstan in a day or two."
"Do
only library employees take part in the competition?"
"Yes,
that's the specific character of the project. But it in no way means that we won't
consider suggestions from our volunteers, clients, and those interested in library
programs. Alexander Baron's help made us understand the importance of every 'look
from outside'."
"Is there one offer in each letter
or do people send several ideas at once?"
"From
the very beginning we didn't want to limit conditions, since freedom in choosing
sometimes results in uncommon decisions. And now we receive at least three ideas
in each letter."
"Does Almaty take part in the
competition?"
"Since we count on rising activity
of the branches, Almaty will act only as a judge".
"When
can we find out about the results of the competition?"
"At
the end of May the jury consisting of respected community members will sum up
the suggestions. The winners will get prizes from "Mitsva" Association.
And of course we'll be glad to tell the readers of www.mitsva.kz about new projects
of the Republican Jewish Library that appear thanks to this competition."
