Shavuot
is one of three main holidays - it is the celebration of the giving of
the Torah. It was that day that the Jewish people received the Torah on Mount
Sinai.
The Torah is a symbol and basis of the eternal alliance between
the Jewish people and G-d. It is traditional to eat dairy and farinaceous
foods.
This time women's club of Hesed "Rachel" gathered to learn
the story of Shavuot. This day people remember of a selfless woman who remained
in a Jewish family, accepted giur, found her happiness and became King David's
grandmother.
And then during the festive meal, the participants shared the culinary
secrets of cooking dairy foods. There were cheese blintzes, cheese pancakes,
and a sour cream pie. Besides, the women brought flowers and decorated the Hesed
premises.
