is raising funds for the Defence Army. The action has been supported by
the Israel television, and a TV marathon brought the Army about five million
dollars.
Besides for fundraising the TV-men did their
best to provide moral assistants to the soldiers, whose families live
outside Israel. The best way to thank them for their devotion to the motherland
was to arrange a meeting with their parents.
Thus, thanks to the TV marathon a sergeant of the Defence
Army Phillip Shahnovitch, the former member of the "Rimon" JCC
youth club met with his mother living in Almaty.
 Phillip
left Kazakhstan three years ago. Before that he took active part in all
"Mitsva" activities and even wrote articles for the "Davar"
newspaper.
At the request of the organizers Phillip did not know about
his mother's arrival and their soon meeting.
When Phillip's mother saw her son she could not hold in her
tears. Most of the world TV companies showed that touching moment in the
evening news. As soon as Phillip and his mother left the studio they went
strolling about Tel Aviv streets.
