Young participants of Mazal Tov program got acquainted with Shavuot
and its customs.
Irina Kopylenko told them about the day when the Jewish People was
given the Torah. Together with their parents the children repeated the Ten Commandments.
Then a volunteer of our program reminded about Mount Sinai and the way it was
chosen for the great purpose. Another volunteer told about Shavuot customs -
Bringing Bikurim (first fruits), dairy foods, and decorating homes with greenery.
After that we drew everybody's attention to the laid table without
meet, but with other delicious stuff - cheese pudding, cheesecakes, sweet
noodle etc.
Several minutes before the concert the children were repeating the
sketch "Grandpa Eliezer and a Carrot". They performed the fairy-tale
before their parents, and the parents were very pleased with their offspring.
Our volunteer Irena Chernitsina had been gathering riddles before
that day, and right after the meal everybody took part in a fascinating quiz.
The youngest children successfully guessed riddle-songs. The celebration concluded
with merry games and dancing.
