The
day of blaring sounds, the Jewish New Year, or Rosh-ha-Shannah was celebrated
in Taraz on September 28.
The
JCC director Elena Dmirtieva welcomed guests. The religious program coordinator
Michail Bunin said blessings and prayers, one of the community elders
lit up holiday candles and greeted everybody in Yiddish. The Hesed director
Arkady Feldman wished everybody a good and sweet new year.
The enchanted audience was listening to shofar while it was
sounding. And then it was the time for everybody to dip apples into honey.
During the celebration the youth club presented a Jewish dance
and a merry quiz. In conclusion everybody sang "Bashanah".
The memories of this Rosh-ha-Shannah celebration will warm
the Jews' hearts till the next 5765 year. Ktiva vehatima tova!
