September 26 the Jewish community of Shymkent gathered to celebrate Rosh-ha-Shannah.
Because the festival coincided with Kabbalat Shabbat, the celebration
began with lighting Shabbat candles.
The directors of the Hesed "Shimon" and JCC congratulated the
community. They wished everybody a good and sweet year.
Then "Alila shel Aliya" dance group performed Jewish dances.
Schoolchildren from the Sunday school sang well-known songs. A Jewish
ensemble played famous melodies to which the guests danced till they dropped.
The celebration was excellent, and everybody left in a happy mood. Shana
