ABOUT THOSE TIMES

Several weeks ago we told you about Tamara Shaikevitch's newly published book "True stories of the XX century". On June 12 Hesed "Polina" held a literature club dedicated to this work.

Participants were those who had already read the book as well as those who had not. But it was obvious that the interest paid to Tamara Shaikevitch's work was genuine. Most of those who visited the literature club knew the times described in the "True Stories" as well as the main characters.

The author told about her lively youth, lean years of the war, indescribable ecstasy of the victory, poor communal flats, and state anti-Semitism.

Most of her life Tamara Shaikevitch lived as a "people's enemy". This cheerful, sincere, and charming woman suffered much grief and misfortunes. The guests thanked the author for the new book and her interest to people's lives.
