  One
of the most significant events for the Taraz branch of the Republican
Jewish Library was presentation of the book "Jews in Kazakhstan:
History, Religion, Culture". It was compiled of the reports presented
at the First International Historical Conference held in Almaty last autumn.
 Participants
of the presentation were Taraz "Hesed" clients. The facts and
ideas presented in the book aroused their interest. The audience paid
serious attention to the chapters "Peculiarities of Jewish Religious
Life in Pre-revolutionary Kazakhstan" and "The War and the Jews
in Almaty". The reports reminded about the heroes who left an imprint
in the history of the city.
Without knowledge of the past a nation has no future. That
is why recollection of the Taraz community will be included in the next
series "From the History of Jews in Kazakhstan".
