  The
Jewish community of Petropavlovsk is used to arrange the Community Festival
of the Jewish Book in Timiryazevo. This faraway locality is a five hours'
drive from Petropavlovsk.
Besides for the usual OFEK program, this year Kabbalat Shabbat
was arranged. All Jewish families of the Timiryazevo district gathered
to celebrate Shabbat. Many of them traveled for over 100 kilometers to
spend time in the circle of their community. The audience listened to
the Hesed staff's stories about the Shabbat history and Tradition very
attentively.
 Besides
for the packages, the Hesed "Efraim" clients received Jewish
newspapers "Davar" and "Shalom".
It is significant that many of the OFEK guests in Timiryazevo
contributed to the library fond. They gave their own books of Jewish authors,
including very rare copies.
