holiday - Volunteers' Day - was celebrated on June 1 in "Nauryz" rest
home. There were 85 representatives of Hesed "Polina" and 19 people
from regional Hasadim.
Early in the morning the guests were
taken to the rest home. The celebration was opened by the director of Hesed "Polina"
Natalya Dorman. She greeted the guests and warmly congratulated volunteers on
their holiday.
 There,
on the Volunteers' Day, new people were affiliated. In a solemn atmosphere Klara
Alehina and Lenina Matlina were given volunteers' badges. The best volunteers
received diplomas and memorial gifts.
 Finally,
the concert began. Participants sang "Volunteers' hymn" written by Timur
Abdukarimov from Shymkent Hesed. He also acted as a compere. Almaty volunteers
presented a literary potpourri, young girls from Taraz performed Jewish dances,
and women from Aktobe recited poems.
 And
then everybody was invited to the table. Pilaw cooked at the camp-fire was beyond
all expectations.
The weather was also fine. Silence, fresh
mountain air, green lawns and alleys helped people to rest and find peace of mind.
The bus came at five o'clock. Happy and satisfied volunteers were taken home.
