Jewish
children have celebrated Tu B'Shevat in the Taraz JCC. Jewish music sounded,
there were fruits and sweets on the tables.
The
celebration began with Tu B'Shevat story told by the Taraz librarian Ida
Bukina.
Because of the winter the children could only plant
sprouts into flowerpots. But they had a lot of fun. They decided to keep
looking after the plants themselves.
After
that everybody was invited to table. There were grapes, pomegranate, olives,
figs, and dates. But before eating the children had to name each of the
fruits in Hebrew.
Then
the JCC theatre studio performed a Tu B'Shevat staging. After the performance
the children sang Hebrew and Yiddish songs and danced Jewish dances.
The meeting concluded with congratulations by the Hesed director
Elena Dmitrieva. She thanked the children for active participation in
the communal life and added that Hesed was a Jewish home, where they were
always welcome.
All the children received 5764 Jewish calendars.
