Yesterday
a small concert held in the Jewish community center "Rimon"
was a success. The idea of holiday's organization belongs to the children
from the Day Camp, which for two months has been working under the JCC.
The representatives of the Hesed "Polina" Day Center were invited
as spectators.
"The invitation was accepted immediately", Tatyana
Rizman, the Day Center leader told, - "A meeting with community
is a real holiday for every participant. Moreover a meeting with children,
as members of the Day Center are single middle aged people! Though it's
hard for them to go on foot, despite everything they aim at becoming a
part of one big Family".
Members of the Children's camp had been preparing for the
concert not for one week. Little artists were very anxious. And it's not
surprising, as a performance before elder people is always a great responsibility
and a serious test of professionalism.
"They are very serious", Masha Arepieva,
a five year old girl told about the members of the Day Center, -"They
are like my grandmother. And she would never let herself to be deceived.
She always knows when I badly learned a poem".
The Day Center met the artists with cheering applause and
warm smiles. The concert was started with a children's chorus. The children
sang "Hava Nagila", "Ose Shalom", "Tumbalalaika".
Having heard favorite melodies since childhood, grandmothers and grandfathers
started to make dance movements, sitting in their armchairs and further
they began to sing together with the children from the camp. The vocal
group was changed by dancers. The girls showed the improvisation called
"Freilechs". Spectators watched closely every movement of the
young dancers.
After a short break an extemporaneous Puppet theater emerged
at a stage. The voices became quiet, music sounded. A girl, dressed up
in the King Solomon, appeared from behind a screen. The puppets emerged
right after her. A performance had started. Children represented a fairy-tale
called "Queen of Sheba's secrets".
"Once upon a time a hoopoe, flying by Solomon, told
him a story about a wonderful country somewhere in the south", -
a puppet-teller started - "The country called a Sheba Kingdom
and it was ruled by the Queen of Sheba, a woman of incomparable beauty
and wisdom".
The performance lasted for more that half an hour. But,
according to the guests, the time rushed too fast.
Only after the third encore of puppeteers and the performer
of the role of Solomon, Alexandra Zykina, the head of "Rimon"
told the guests that it was a debut of the Puppet theatre.
"You are our first spectators", she said.
"And we are happy that the play arose your sincere interest. By
the way, all the puppets, you have seen today and would see in further
plays, are hand made by children!"
The Day center could not help thanking children for their
successful performance. Marya Sheremetyeva, an eighty year old member
of the center came up to the children. A big wrapped box turned out to
be next to her.
"My dear boys and girls", a woman
turned to the artists. "This summer I won a videotape recorder
in a Purim- lottery. For a long time my friends from the Hesed and I have
been thinking what we should do with it. And today we have decided to
give it to you as a present. We believe, for you it will be more useful!
