NEW THINGS ABOUT BOOKS

Almaty 22.12.04

A one more wonderful line of children's book appeared on the shelves of the Jewish Republican library. This time the books are addressed to junior school children. And again we can see familiar writers, names of books, heroes - kind, merry, honest and, I would underline it, non-bellicose.

The eye lies upon a fine design. Pictures, made by an artist Arkadiy Sher - are bright and understandable as a contest of books. They make books more attractive and merry.

So, what kind of books are they? "Who ever heard and saw this?" by Victor Dragunskiy, "A repair in the Zoo" by Arkadiy Kurlyandskiy, "Uncle Fedor's aunt" by Eduard Uspenskiy and more of them that will gladden any schoolchild, even if he remembers them from animated cartoons.

Those books, so interesting and funny, will not let any little reader stay indifferent. But do help him, take him away from the T.V. set at least for an hour, sit with him, laugh together with him and think over what is right and what is wrong in the behavior of the characters. You'll contribute a lot to your children: they need a guide in the world of books, in the world of kindness and love. Do become such a guide for them.

And there is one more book of Eduard Uspenskiy "Down the fairy river" - a new interpretation of old fairy tales. A wonderful illustrator Victor Chizhikov subtly felt the intonation of fairy tales, the very spirit of them and created such pictures that underlined the contents.

A golden line of books for school children aims at giving a pleasure for a child that takes such books in his hands, at making a book the best friend of him.

We do hope that these novelties of the Jewish Republican library will be loved by our children and help them in their life - help them to love BOOKS.
