 Painting
and graphics exhibition in memory of a writer Moris Simashko has opened
in "Umay" museum. This year the talented writer would have been
80.
The exhibition was prepared by "Umay" museum, Jewish
Congress of Kazakhstan, "Mitsva" Association, and "Rimon"
JCC. The writer's friends, colleagues, and admirers attended the opening.
They told about Moris Davydovitch in warm and simple words.
The visitors looked at the pictures that were congenial to Simashko's
books. A film about the writer shot by Eduard Medvedkin not long before
his death was shown on the TV.
Simashko's portrait painted by an artist Pavel Dragunov
specially for that day hang in the center of the hall near the manuscripts.
That was the way Almaty people remembered Simashko - the author of 20
books translated into 40 languages. Among them are "Beibars",
"Mazdak", "Berbeka", "Iskuplenie Dabira",
"Gu-Ga", "Semiramida", "Kolokol"
and many others.
